Santa Clarita Wedding at The Oaks Club Valencia

How many dad’s out there have played matchmaker for their daughter?  I know my husband probably thinks he will find the perfect guys for our girls one day.  But we all know true love doesn’t work that way. You can’t force a relationship, the best ones are more serendipitous.

Janelle’s dad had no intention of playing matchmaker, especially to Scott, a colleague in the film industry.  What Janelle’s dad didn’t know is that his phone’s screensaver, a picture of his beautiful daughter, had sparked a curiosity in Scott that would not go away easily.  Thinking he had exhausted his chances of ever getting Janelle’s number, Scott conceded and gave Janelle’s dad a gift for the trouble.

That gift, a handmade paracord keychain, would be the unexpected conversation starter that would lead to meeting Janelle.  As Janelle’s dad put it, when asked about the unassuming new addition to his keychain, “That’s from the guy who’s in love with you.”  That sarcastic remark was all it took for Janelle to have the courage to find Scott’s number in her dad’s phone and strike up a conversation.

Having lived together for about five years, Janelle and Scott decided it was finally time to tie the knot!  As Janelle recalls, the best part of the wedding planning is taste testing. Not one for traditional cake, these two chose a special “‘wedding donut” to share with their guests.  How cool is that! What better way to make a memorable statement on your big day.

After her beautiful wedding at the The Oaks Club in Valencia, we asked Janelle if she had any advice for future Veil Of Grace Brides.  Here is what she had to say,

“I would advise to limit your guest list only to people who have shown to support your relationship and those who have seen you grow up and are happy for you. People will try to guilt trip you into an invite for their own agenda and you have every right to say no, I’m not paying for your meal. We invited 90 of our closest friends and family and only 4 of those people rsvp’d yes but were a no show. Plus it’s nice being around people you don’t feel you need to impress.”

What great advice, something I also took to heart when planning my own wedding.
